Raw Hot Chocolate Smoothie

One of the greatest challenges for people on a raw food diet is the cold weather during the fall and winter months. When the days turn shorter and colder, we naturally crave warming and comforting foods. Those who are new to raw food tend to question their "resolve" to stay raw no matter what.

There is, however, a very simple way to keep your blood circulating. Simply add warming spices to your raw food recipes and skip the ice. With a pinch of hot chili pepper or cardamom you can turn your summer smoothies into warming and comforting drinks. Your salads, salad dressings, sauces and dips can be altered in the same way to keep you warm and nourished.

Experiment! And most of all, remember that it is better to be passionate than fanatical about the food.
